This is actually a University project I completed during my 1st year at university. We were given the task of designing a Logo for "T5" and to design a website giving information about all the courses taking place at T5, which T5 being the name of the creative floor of the university. I used a 960 px frame to make sure the website fits on a regular monitor screen. I decided to go for a dark background with a colourful header text and speech bubble type menu buttons. The CMYK colours of the main menu and the lime green T5 logo are well contrasted with the background. To encourage student participation/ evolvement, I also implemented a "recent Student Work' area to encourage students to upload their work. additionally, I included links to popular bookmarking sites such as Digg and popular social networking sites such as Facebook.

Irish Beer Label Design Application
A Little while ago I designed this Irish beer label using an image of myself during my free time to improve my knowledge of illustrator. Now, thanks to the beautiful layered stock images over at LiveSurface.com, I've been able to push the project further and apply the label to an actual beer bottle. The end result looks pretty believable but still It'll be really funny to go down the supermarket and see a shelf full of beer with my face on them LOL.

MTV Main Stage Bus Stop Poster
In my spare time, I created this Bus Stop version of my MTV Main Stage poster and was looking for images on Istockphoto where it could be applied to visualise how it will look in the real world. The end result is really believable and will definitely reach the target audience with its colourful and funky theme MTV is known for. The use of white space creates emphasis on the design and the message, which can be easily read even during rush hours.

UBSU Logo Redesign
In this University project, we had to redesign the Logo for the University's Student Union using no more than 3 spot colours. I use two spot colours that closely match the university's official colours. The sphere with the recognisable University of Bolton swash can be interpreted as a world for students, with the figure-ground swash as an "S" for student.
AIDS Poster
For this University project, we were to design an AIDS poster. We were given the text and a square canvas of 200 mm X 200 mm. I decided to go for a bold and angled design. The red goes well with the topic (AIDS) as this is the colour usually associated with AIDS related printed materials. The text despite being at an angle is perfectly legible with no ugly rags, rivers or orphans.

University Open days PDF Flyer
In my 1st year at University, we were given the brief of designing an E-mail PDF Flyer for prospective student who showed and interest in the University's School of Arts Media and Education. The PDF flyer was to be seen on screen without having to scroll down, using a grungy style. The text also had to be legible.
This was my final piece where I established a visual hierarchy going from the to left to the bottom right. The main text was carefully tracked with a good leading and the key information ( University of Bolton, open days dates etc ) are clearly highlighted.
Irish Beer Packaging Design
This is a personal packaging design exercise I did just for fun while bored and playing around in Illustrator. I was inspired by a tutorial on gradients and blends at Vectips.com and decided to design this beer label using the same techniques and a picture of myself ( purely for fun and to see how I would look like on a beer Label ). I have to say the end result is pretty funny LOL...
Sand Caste Hotel Logo design
This is a Logo I did for an under construction medium size beach resort hotel. They wanted the logo show they best selling point, the clean sandy beach, the blue sea and the nice summer weather. The resort was targeting young families, with young children who like to play with the sand. I was also to suggest a name for the resort. I came up with the simple circular illustration to represent the all the selling points and also came up the the name "sand castle" as it's a familiar term for kids on the beach. The two colours represent the blue sky and sand.
Photographer's Business Card Design
This is a Business Card I designed for a newly graduated Photography student, using her personal preferences (such as colour and picture). I decided to use a big "S" on the card to make her memorable (her name being Siobhan) within the mix of Business cards. she was happy with the end result and still uses it at present.
The Creative Design Blog Logo
The Creative Design Blog was created out of the need for me to expose my interest for everything design and expose my design work on the inter web. I did not want it to be an online portfolio but rather a place where I can simply post every piece of design work I do and comment on anything design related that I found intriguing. I also need to give the blog it's own Identity as this is not me trying to become my own brand ( at least not yet ). The Logo concept is about me talking about Graphic design and my design work and that's where the speech bubble idea comes from. The rest is just basically careful type selection, leading, kerning, tracking and alignment.
